My Top Homeschool Resources

This week, my sister made the comment that she is considering homeschooling my niece for Kindergarten and 1st grade. While I am not one with the patience to do anything like that, props to her! But it got me thinking, as she asked her "teacher friends" about resources. Even though I don't homeschool my kids, I subscribe to many blogs that make learning at home a lot easier. I'm that crazy mom that makes her kids learn over the summer (don't worry, they get more than enough play time!). And I'm glad I do. Over this past summer, my daughter…

Teaching Kids to Set the Table – FREE PRINTABLE!

One goal of mine last week was to begin teaching my kids to set the table.  Now, seeing as I have a teenager, a pre-teen, an elementary-schooler, and a preschooler, you may be wondering what took me so long.  Well, I don't know how things work at your house, but over here it doesn't matter how many times I tell them--they always forget!  So this time I found the perfect solution. Homemade Lemonade

So since we planted our garden Sunday instead of making homemade lemonade, we saved the lemonade for yesterday. On Sunday evening, when I went out to purchase our vegetable seeds and two more packets of flower seeds, I went ahead and picked up 12 medium-sized lemons for this recipe. Here's what you're going to do: Cut the lemons in half. I went ahead and did this first…

DIY Raised Garden Bed

For a while now, I've been wanting to spruce up the backyard. I've had my eye on some teak garden furniture which is supposed to be really hard wearing, and it would mean we could eat outside which would be lovely in the summer months. The kids might even fancy sitting outside to do homework and crafts which would be much healthier for them. However, I don't want any of us getting either burnt in the sun or rained on by a spontaneous storm! This is why an outdoor pavilion would be perfect to shelter our garden furniture to increase…

When Little Girls Cut Hair

So this weekend, Rapunzel had a friend over, and all was going well until I decided to order dinner. I walked away, the kids were supposed to clean up their mess and come downstairs.  5-10 minutes later, Tinkerbell comes downstairs with her hair chopped.  I mean chopped.  I was shocked, surprised, angry.  I didn't know what to say. Apparently Tinkerbell had decided she wanted her hair to look like Rapunzel's friend's.  So she told her to cut it and showed her where the scissors were.  They had to climb on top of the bathroom sink to get to the medicine cabinet…
