Choosing Just to Be

Today I was all determined to accomplish a host of things. And I did. I spent way more time that I had planned on working on the blog page, worked out, and even enjoyed a walk to the school to pick up Princess Anna from school.Everything went as planned, really, until bedtime. When my niece came up with this fantastic idea for a tea party that we can't attend, which led Princess Anna into a meltdown, because they my sister and niece are leaving on Wednesday and we won't see them again for a year. And somewhere along the way, I had…

Week in Review: Week of March 1, 2015

This week was my first week at home, and I spent the majority of the week just trying to get into some sort of schedule.  Of course it snowed (again!), and I couldn't find a sufficient quiet place to work, so things didn't quite work out like a normal week should but we're going to try again this week.  So my main goal this week is just to function as normally as possible as well as the following: Here are my goals for next week: Spiritual: Devotions (4/7) Mental: Read 30 minutes Spend 1 hour to myself Physical: Exercise 3…

Thomson One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp Stepmonster by Wednesday Martin The Five Love Languages of Teenagers by Gary Chapman Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married by Gary Chapman What I'm Reading Now: The Fringe Hours by Jessica Turner How to Blog…

Thursday’s Recipe: Taco Bake

I know it's been a couple of weeks since I told you I'd post my bread bowl recipe.  My apologies.  I'm still waiting to make it for my sister; we've been delayed several times due to snow!  If nothing else, I'll post it next week. I did make this Taco Bake this week though.  I modified it slightly from the recipe I found over at The Country Cook.  (Don't confuse this with Taco Pie--it's completely different!)  It's pretty quick and easy to make, though I don't recommend sticking it in the oven before you have to pick up one of…

When Trusting Others Hurts

Last week was a tough week. Well if you include yesterday in there too. Not only was I tired and depressed, but we're in the process of experiencing change and change isn't easy. In the last few weeks, I've been feeling like I burned a bridge with one of my best friends and have been trying to figure out how to repair it (I haven't come up with anything yet). Then last week, I found out that another of my best friends (we've known each other for 16 years) is moving out of the area. Do not get me wrong,…
