If You Could Describe 2014 in One Word…
…what would it be?
I’ve loved to ask this question for the past several years; I love to hear the answers that my friends and family have to give. Some years are hard. Others are wonderful. I love to hear the stories that come with them.
At the beginning of 2014, my one word was intentional.
And it was intentional. I met or came closer to meeting a lot of my goals, because I was intentional.
But this year, I’d ultimately have to describe 2014 as transformational.
We had pest control out to our house numerous times (an embarrassing yet necessary predicament), which made us transform our home. There was a lot of cleaning, washing, and replacing involved. My stepdaughter encountered some difficulties as well, which took our family places I never dreamed of. Which led to a transformation in my husband’s outlook on his employment and a transformation in where God is leading me.
Transformation. I feel like I’m talking about butterflies.
Maybe we are like butterflies, though. We start out plain, sometimes rather ugly. It is only the transformation inside the cocoon that allows us to come out beautiful.
I’m hoping this year won’t bring with it quite as many challenges as 2014, though I’m sure it will have plenty of its own. That may be just what we need to come out on the other side looking beautiful…
