Let’s All Be Brave: A Book Review
Just this past fall, I had the opportunity to participate in my first Bloom book study. Lucky for me, because we read Let’s All Be Brave by Annie F. Downs.
Let me just say… LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I cannot say enough things about this book. And none of them are negative.
So if you were hoping for a negative review…sorry. You’re not getting one.
Many of you know that I am currently on a journey that came out of 12 years of ignoring God’s calling. Part of the push that led me to step about and follow with blind faith the ministry God has called me to came from Let’s All Be Brave.
Let me just start by saying that Annie’s ability to make everything flow and make sense is just awesome. I can’t remember any occasion that I had to go back to reread anything for clarity. I love it when I can just sit down and read a book and not have read and re-read something just for it to make sense. No, Annie is concise. And it all flows.
Not only that, but Annie also is so conversational. By the time we finished the study, I felt like I knew her. Well, it probably helped that there was video to accompany the study, but really—her style of writing is very relaxed, not jumbled with crazy big words, and just…to the point. But descriptive. And emotional. And I love that she reveals herself and the hard things. The hard things—that’s brave.
And I can’t wait to take a lot of what I learned in her book and apply it to my life this year. And also in my book. Part of conquering fear is just being brave, and that is just what she teaches.
If any book should be on your list this year, it’s Let’s All Be Brave by Annie F. Downs. It might just change your life.
