Scripture Sunday: The Lord is Good

“The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him.”

– Lamentations 3:25

God is good.  All the time.  And all the time.  God is good.

Know what my favorite thing is about this verse?  It doesn’t say, “The Lord is good to those who don’t sin,” “The Lord is good to the rich and famous,” or “The Lord is good to those who never give into temptation.”

Whew.  I don’t know about you, but that sure is a relief for me!  Because I sin.  And sometimes it seems like I am sinning all. the. time.  I fail my husband.  I fail my kids.  Sometimes I scream.  I don’t always take care of everything He’s given me the best way I know how.  But guess what?  God is good to those who depend on Him.  God is good to those who search for Him.

You don’t have to be perfect!

God is good to you, because you try.  God is good to you, because He loves you.  God is good to you, because you search for Him.  Through the muddled darkness of sin, if you seek Him, He is good.  If you are clinging to Him for dear life because temptation seems to overpower you, He is good.

God is good.

No matter your sin.  No matter the cross you bear.

God is good.  Amen.
