Oh my goodness, I am so excited to finally be finished with my summer calendars; it’s liberating!    I feel like I am running a bit behind this year with these, because I like to have them posted a little further out from the end of school, but well, I was waiting on camp information and such.  And when you wait on someone else who likes to be late, inevitably you’re going to be late.  Nevertheless, it’s still here before school is out for us!  That being said, I’m happy to present to you our summer calendar!

For the second year in a row, I did not plan special days for us, because I have found in the past that when I plan special things, I have high expectations and then when it doesn’t happen the way I want it to, I just end up disappointed.  I like to think of our calendar as fairly fluid (with the exception of camps).  Drop-in activities and other events are optional depending on the kids’ moods or behavior.  Letter boxing and other outdoor activities will depend on the weather.  And then whenever we actually have a good day and nothing in particular is scheduled, we can just pack up our things and head to the lake if we feel like it.  No pressure, no expectations, just fun.

On the other hand, I love having my calendar, because it gives us a guideline.  And of course, when you have a calendar, you can’t forget the concrete things…like camps.
