Bullet-Proof Heart

Depending on which version of the Bible you read, you’ll find that Ephesians 6:14 describes the armor as “the breastplate of righteousness,” or “the body armor of God’s righteousness.”  When consulting with my husband on these two terms, he informed me that, when Ephesians was being written, body armor and the breastplate were the same thing.  Thus, we’ll treat them as such. Strong’s Concise Concordance describes the breastplate as having two parts that protect the torso (from the neck to the middle of the body) front and back.  This piece of armor, generally made of leather, bronze, or iron, protected…

The Best Shoes

In Ephesians 6:15, Paul tells us: For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In order for us to really understand this verse, I think we need to dissect it first.  Let’s start from the beginning. Why shoes? Being able to see what you're doing limits the amount of injury you can do to yourself... I would hope anyway. It's because of past mistakes and the latest up-to-date safety precautions that we are required to (or at least strongly requested to) wear helmets…

Same Grace: An Imperfect Mom Confessional

Hey everyone!  I am so EXCITED today, because I'm over at Busy Being Blessed sharing my ultimate WORST.  Mommy Fail.  EVER. (Excited for the post, mind you.  Not the mommy fail part.) So without further ado (because I know time is precious!), here is a little excerpt: If I ever had a Mommy Fail moment, this was it.  I felt like such a failure as a mother—like I had not cared for the gifts God had given me.  Still when I think of this, I feel disappointment with myself. But what I have to remind myself every time is this:…
