Celebrate Love

As we celebrate Advent and anticipate the coming of Jesus, our Savior, we celebrate love and what God's love has done for us.  This week, I felt that this verse best sums up the reason for Jesus' birth and death and fully represents the love that God has for us: a love so strong that He would send His Son to die as the sacrifice for our sins. "There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." -John 15:13 Think about His love for you this week, accept it, and as you do so, love others…

Persistent Prayer

I was going to write about fear today, since Halloween is on Saturday...but I realized I couldn't abandon my talk on the armor of God without one important aspect.  I know we've finished putting on every piece of armor, but there's one specific instruction that Paul gives us after explaining the armor.  And that is to pray.  Here it is in Ephesians 6, verse 18: Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Strong’s Concise Concordance describes the breastplate as having two parts that protect the torso (from the neck to the middle of the body) front and back.  This piece of armor, generally made of leather, bronze, or iron, protected…
