Grace and glory.

Those two words are the first that came to mind as I listened to Nichole Nordeman’s new CD, The Unmaking.

I’m big on finding themes within music, reading and understanding the lyrics, and applying it to my life.  We’ve had our ups and downs over here lately at Making the Most, and I was so seeking encouragement when I popped Nichole’s new disc into my CD player.

Here’s what I found:

  1. No matter what I try to build, if it’s building for my own glory, it will fall.  God uses us to accomplish His will, but sometimes we just get in the way.  Sometimes we just need to put aside our desires and truly seek His will.  What is He trying to accomplish through us?  How can we be the best version of ourselves that will give God the glory?  Let’s not toil in vain but build His kingdom with humility and praise for Him.
  2. Grace.  God’s grace.  He made us beautiful in unique ways.  He made us unique in beautiful ways.  He loves us so much more than we will ever know, and no matter what we’ve done, He has a purpose for each and every one of us.  He offers forgiveness to each and every one of us.  No matter how bad we think we are, no matter what we think we’ve done, His forgiveness is waiting for you just to receive it.  Right your wrongs.  Come back humble to your Father.  Be freed from your sin and accept His grace.
  3. Love.  In all of these songs, love.  God knows what’s best for us, and even though we sometimes stray from His plan for us, there’s nothing we can do that can separate us from His love for us.  Lastly, my favorite song “Slow Down,” sings the love of a parent for his/her child.  But while you may relate this love to mothers and fathers for their earthly children, let’s extend that love to the love Christ has for us.  He sees us like His children, He enjoys the moments with us.  Just us.  You are important and you are so loved.

I’d love for you to be able to win a free copy of this new CD and so encourage you in your walk with Christ.  You can find details on how to enter at the bottom of this post.
